What material is a bike tube made of?
Most inner tubes are made of butyl rubber. They are also available in latex, which is a high performance inner tube and is much more flexible and lighter than the butyl version.
What are the benefits of latex tubes?
The benefits of alatex inner tube are reduced weight and flexability. Latex tubes improve the ride quality of the tyre making it more supple/comfortable to ride.
What is the difference between latex and butyl inner tubes?
Latex inner tubesare made of natural rubber, latex, which is more flexible and also more porous than sinthetic rubber, butyl. A more flexible inner tube creates less rolling resistance and can resist better against punctures. Latex inner tubes are also lighter, but are more porous so they lose air faster than butyl inner tubes.
How do I know my bike tube size?
On the side of the tyre you will see the sizes written, refering to the size of the tyre and this also refers to the inner tube size needed.
Do Vittoria tires come with tubes?
Vittoria tyres do not come with inner tubes, so you will need to purchase a separate inner tube. With the exception of Tubular tyres - These have the inner tubes already inside the tyre. We do offer a special Twin Pack (Rubino Pro clincher) Bundle in some regions which does come with two inner tubes in the box as part of the special offer.
What are the causes of a valve tear off?
Valve tearing can be caused by the valve being caught by some road or trail debris like a rock or stick. It can also be caused by the valve lock nut being threaded onto the valve too tightly before the tube is inflated - the valve can then tear away from the inner tube when the tube is inflated. For this reason, we recommend to only thread the lock nut onto the valve once the tube has been inflated.
How to prevent tire slip or valve tear off?
Valve tear-off can be caused by the valve lock nut being threaded onto the valve too tightly before the tube is inflated - the valve can then tear away from the inner tube when the tube is inflated. For this reason, we recommend to only thread the lock nut onto the valve once the tube has been inflated.
What size rim tape do I need?
The Rim tapesize/width is specific to the internal rim width and diameter of the wheel you are using. You need to know the wheel size and internal rim width to choose the correct rim tape to use.
Do I need sealant for tubeless-ready tire?
Yes, all tubeless ready tyres should be installed with sealant. The sealant will help to seal any small punctures you might get in the tyre tread and casing. Without the sealant the tyre will simply go flat.
WARNING: use only ammonia-free sealant when mounting cotton tires.
How often do I have to refill or replace sealant to tubeless-ready tires?
You should replace or top up sealant at least every three months. Depending on the climate you live in, you might need to do it more frequently - if you live in a warm climate the sealant will tend to dry up/dry out quicker in hot conditions. Try to avoid leaving your bike in direct sunlight or storing next to a radiator.
